WOW! That is the response that Brenda and I had when walking through the clubhouse doors to a transformed Venetian backdrop. Tracy and Jerry Carr, and the entire Commodore Ball committee, did an amazing job. I’m sure that most of you have seen photos of the evening. Very special, would be putting it mildly. There was the backdrop of Venice, Mike Sisk created an authentic wonderful gondola for those photo moments, the food was delicious, and the evening was spectacular. Thank you again to all of you that contributed or were present to enjoy the festivities. Brenda put it best by saying, during the first dance, “this seems like a second wedding”. We are excited about the upcoming year and the events which are currently planned on the calendar. We are hoping that we get additional sponsors for some of the events that are still currently available. That would be great! You can Co-Host or even group host an event. We are getting some RSVPs for the Sweetheart Dinner, but if you haven’t done so, I would encourage those of you that have not sent in your RSVP, to please do so. We currently have 27 people signed up. The Sweetheart Dinner is on February 10 and is being hosted by a group of men. Many thanks to Darren Hoy, Mitch Ruth, Pep Lowe, Brad Reading, Jim Stoller, Jerry Carr, and yours truly, for stepping up to the plate. We are having spaghetti and meatballs for the entrée, Caesar salad, garlic bread, and lots of low-calorie desserts. HaHa! We hope to make it a very special evening for our first mates, who are always there helping out. Thank you, ladies! We had our first board meeting on January 19, which went a little longer than normal, but we are working on renovations of the bylaws, which are always time-consuming and laborious. We hope to have these prepared and ready to present to you at our Spring Meeting on March 30. Be sure and check the calendar, which is on the cruisesyc.com website and Facebook Dinghy Dock group in order to receive more information. I am always open to your phone calls or emails. If you have ideas for the club, I would love to discuss them with you. Please feel free to drop me an email. Best Regards, Greg Lenke, Serenity Commodore 2024 2024 Yearbook Deadline is Friday, February 2 To update your information or submit a new photo contact Janine Bombach now! Is it February already? Wow, this is going to be another great year for the SYC! I feel like the fun activities and events are endless with this group and that's just one of the things that makes our members special. Let's give it up for the Davanos! That band was absolutely fantastic for the Commodores ball and I don't think I've ever seen the dance floor packed like that all night long. We had a fantastic turnout for the AED/First Aid training course and excellent breakfast to kick it all off. A huge shout out to Ronda and her medical committee for helping make it all a worthy success for our members. Thanks Mitch Ruth for bringing those EPI Pen Trainers too. Hopefully no-one ever has to perform these skills in real life, but I'm certain we are much better prepared if we do. With that said, I am working on the details of our upcoming April 6 Clubhouse Clean Up and Coast Guard Auxiliary Vessel Safety Inspection. You can check online for any regulation changes and get your items all up to snuff ahead of the inspection so you can get one of those cool stickers for 2024.
